ABOUT TOBY

Hello! Thanks for stopping by.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself and my studio.  I love music with my whole heart and I want to share my joy and expertise with you!

When you sign up for violin lessons, voice lessons, or early childhood music classes with me, you can expect a fun, challenging, stimulating experience at each and every lesson.  I tailor your lessons individually, working with your strengths to help you make real musical progress.  I have 20 years of teaching experience, both as a private music teacher and also as a classroom teacher in San Francisco private schools.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and I still love living, working, playing, and singing here.  I am passionate about music education and I strongly believe in lifelong learning.  We're never too old (or too young!) to make music.  I earned my B.A. from Pomona College, my Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2010, and my Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2011.  I received my Suzuki Teacher Certification in Books 1, 2, 3, and 4 at the Hartt Suzuki Institute and the Advanced Suzuki Institute at Stanford.  I'm always working to get fresh new ideas from colleagues & from my own musical practice and compositions to invigorate my teaching, playing and singing.

Feel free to click on the "contact" tab to say hello or to set up a trial lesson.  I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
